Summer 2011 Pre-sessional Tutors for English for Academic Purposes

Advance applications are welcome for our English for Academic Purposes Pre-sessional Programme 2011. Teachers are required to teach groups of up to 15 students using prepared programme materials.

Course dates

Summer 2011

Posts available for one or more courses (3-10 weeks).

Main Duties

full-time teaching English for Academic Purposes
teaching 20 timetabled hours
lesson preparation, feedback to students, final assessments and writing reports
attending the induction programme, meetings and workshops.

Essential

a Diploma in English teaching/PGCE with substantial TEFL component, or Diploma-level qualifications as defined in section 4.2 of the British Council’s Accreditation UK handbook www.britishcouncil.org/accreditation_uk_handbook_2008-09.pdf (pp.46-47)
substantial teaching experience, ideally in EAP or a related field at tertiary level.
a post-graduate Masters degree.

Desirable

Experience at tertiary level of teaching English in : Social Sciences or Engineering or Science or Law or Business Masters.
